Have you tried SoundSwitch yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it? If not, would you want to add it to your gigging set-up? Let us know below. Check the SoundSwitch site for more details. SoundSwitch 1.4 is now available as a free update to existing SoundSwitch users.Watch out for our review of SoundSwitch soon. Of course, you still have the option of getting in deep with the scripting and light programming if you like.

With this latest update, SoundSwitch does the heavy lifting so you can get started performing with your own light show straight away without any extra effort. SoundSwitch launched on the promise of customisable light shows for DJs, and while it did fulfill that on release, having to manually program the lighting commands within the SoundSwitch software is an extra (and potentially head-scratching) step in the DJ gig preparation stage. From there, you can select your preferred hotkey and select/deselect devices so that only the correct ones are available for switching. This means you don’t have to spend time manually programming brightness adjustments, effects, and other lighting parameters – SoundSwitch can do all that for you. SoundSwitch is simple to configure all you need to do is right-click on the systray icon to open up the settings. It does this by picking out elements in a tune (eg kick drums, snare drums, a song’s musical key) and then using them to create lighting commands.

Now at version 1.4, the update gives SoundSwitch software the “Auto Lighting Effect Generator” feature – what this means is that SoundSwitch can now script and sync lighting effects in a song at the push of a button, no manual programming necessary. SoundSwitch, the software / hardware solution that syncs Serato DJ with DMX lighting, just released a new update.
